upgrade to d800 from d610 and foucus issue

hi guys im new here . i had a nikon d610 for christmas (used but good condition) and part of me wonders should i of spent a bit more and got a d800 or d810 . will i get a lot of benefit from that? 

something im a little confused is i have a samsung nx3000 smart camera and it seems like the pics from that are sharper then the ones from my d610 with 50mm1.8g lens. tbh honest i expected a bit better quality from the nikon  

What shutter speeds and what aperture do you use with the 50/1.8? Is the lens you have on the Samsung stabilized?

Could you post examples with the shooting data?

It should give acceptable results, even if it isn't one of the stellar Nikkors.

Peter is right. The D610 is capable of great results tho not is good as either the D800 or D810 because of the lower resolution sensor in the D610. That said, after looking at the nx3000 specs, I wouldn't expect to see a great deal of difference between it and the D610 because they have nearly the same size sensor. I didn't see any mention of either in body or on lens stabilization mentioned in the nx3000 specs.

samsung could be mate . ill take some tomorrow if i can and upload some. ive calibrated the lens and ti me the samsung is a little sharper

All the other AF-S f/1.8 Nikkors are among the best consumer grade primes they have made but the 50 isn't up to that standard, unfortunately. The old 6 element in 5 groups 50/1.8 in all its incarnations draws with a nicer character in the finished photo but the autofocus is noisy in the AF and AF D versions.

The only really excellent auto-focus normal from Nikon today is the 58/1.4.

If you can go with manual focus, the field gets bigger since all the fastish normals made after ~1972-1973 are excellent performers, even if the earliest need to be Ai-converted to use on an FX DSLR.

There are third-party normals that perform well and have a solid following, but I have never found one I liked.
