Placed a pre-order for mine today, the twin lens kit was on offer, due about the 7th of November.

Reminds me of the old Nikkormats. Seems like a good, solid camera body that can pretty much use the entire current (and recent past) Nikkor lens inventory.

The 20.9MP sensor seems like a back step. I was expecting at least 24MP.

The sensor is probably closely related to the D500/D7500 sensor. If the choice is between 24 MP and the DR of the current 20.9 MP sensor in the top-of-the-line DX DSLRs, I would go for the DR.

Well, it's obviously a tweaked/advanced sensor.

Still I would have expected a new Nikon camera to offer 30MP or more by now.

Much more than 20 and i may not have bought it, i need fast shutter speeds which in turn can mean high iso in the UK, the more MP the more noise.

My understanding... which may be in error, is that the Z50 sensor is a close relative of the D500 sensor. If that's the case, performance should be very good.

You don't need more...both the D5 and the D500 are at that same level.  But in my opinion they need a motor base like they just came out with for the Z6 and Z7.  Three hundred frames wouldn't cut it for any heavy use.

One of the reviewers got over 600 and still had power left, i never use the LCD as i would need to put my reading glasses on so i bet i get a lot more than 300.

Possibly beyond what you may want to use but played a bit with high iso
