Does Nikon offer too many camera models? I think so. With more and more people using smartphones for photographs, perhaps it would be wise to streamline the amount of choices. More cost-effective all around.
I remember back in the days of film, my two choices were the FT2 or the F2. We didn't complain.
Anyway, Nikon could reduce the Coolpix line to just one or two models (or eliminate this category), merge the D3000 and D5000 series together, and drop one or two FX choices as well. Then, manufacture only two mirrorless models: one crop sensor and one full-frame.
But hey, I'm just a consumer.
