Sources are saying there are rumors and beliefs Nikon is working on an entry-level full frame mirrorless camera. I am excited for it even though I own a slew of cameras already. Lately it has been hard for me to recommend DSLRs, let alone entry level Nikons since they are outdated and sooner than later, the research and development of anything F-mount related will cease. I am pretty excited I might be able to recommend a Nikon that is potentially half the price of the Z6 and more than third the price of the Z7.

Who said it was the holy grail? I don't disagree with you, in a beginner camera topic I suggested an expensive Panasonic G7. The future is mirrorless and Nikon developing a camera more people could afford is a welcome addition.

Although I sold all my Canon equipment I'm wishing I hadn't now that the new RP is out.

From what I've read, I wouldn't look for a low end Nikon Z series mirrorless camera this year. Hopefully, the tea leaves are wrong. And, I confess to being somewhat interested in such a camera myself. I really can't justify a Z7 (or really even a Z6) at this point. Something a bit cheaper however might motivate me to fish out my wallet. Provided, of course, that Nikon doesn't terribly cripple the thing... as they are apt to do... and have done repeatedly in the past.

I hope the camera isn’t extremely crippled either. It is very rare I will suggest an entry level camera to anyone because it is easy to grow out of - the biggest draw would be if it caters to the novice and hobbyist alike

What I think they need to do is produce a FM2A for digital. I know, I know... totally unrealistic. But, for me at least, if they took out the movie stuff... the fancy scene modes and just made a basic (not cheaply built) camera with manual and aperture preferred auto and gave it a really good AF and sensor, I'd be really interested. Of course it's not gonna happen.
The last time they tried something like that, they came up with the DF which is a great camera... so I'm told, but totally impractical (not to mention, expensive) for many (most?) people.

Edit: to correct stupid camera nomenclature error.
