i see my model A011  SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD is see i can not use tap in shoe and have to send lens ito tamron usa. can i send lens tamron usa for firmware update our not. it works on Z6 but only in manual and can only use single-point af and nothing else. will not let me choice vr too it has it off too. also i can not get to manual focus  good enough too. i might have to sell lens if can not get to work on Z6 since for that body and my D7200 body too. i do not want to keep lens that works only of DSLR body's only when want to use on both Z6 and D7200 mirrorless lens i know i will get down line for Z6 but okay with working on Z6 only

There is no firmware to update in a lens!

Commercial practices may very from a country to the other. See…

I think Tamron do repairs on all their lenses, but you have to pay for it if the lens is grey market. Is there an update for the Z6 or is that wishful thinking?

Nikon Shooter, third-party lenses have many times over the years needed their chip changed or memory flashed when Nikon activates new features in the communication protocols for new bodies. The reason for this is that the protocol is reverse-engineered, and you can't detect instructions that aren't yet in use.

Oh yes there is. With late model Tamrons and Sigmas you can even do it yourself. Most things today have firmware...except me, and I would probably need it the most  :D

I understood that, Bergan…

I just never had to since I don't use 3rd parties!

Contact Tamron to check if your lens can be re chipped, i know in the past Tamron lenses could not be re chipped to work with the Nikon 1 series but i dont know about the Z series.

i sent e-mail got have not heard. the reps at local wildlife and birding event in my area said keep checking every 6 weeks i ask before and gave me run around said you have to wait in till post release date for firmware. when i talk to them said had gen one. then was told by them have to wait for announcement when firmware update are out. i do not want to sell lens i love it. but sucks i get run around from tamron on if can or can not. they said do not even know what going with issue on which lenses not work or are up. just said just keep checking see if firmware update came out or not.

i might call them next week to see what hell going on. if get run around still will be looking to sell lens and get sigma version. and never give tamron any more business. i had issue with 70-300mm marco kit lens too. since macro would not work right i had manual do it when camera mode was set for macro and would autofocus good enough too. it will be sad if they can not fix my issue or other people issue too. since with this mess going on not give monthly or something to let us know what going on. i see more and more people not leaving tamron because of this issue.
