I purchased a use 14-24mm f2.8 Nikon Lens US version. I was happy with it when I bought it but recently I took it to do some astrophotography of the milkway and was less than pleased with its performance and am wondering if it needs to be sent in for repair. I am finding what I would consider an excessive amount what I believe is Chromatic Aberration. I understand that all super wide angle lenses will have some chromatic aberration in the extreme edges but with this lens it starts not far from the center of the image. I have compared it to pictures taken with the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 which is producing FAR less aberration and only in the extreme corners of the image.
I first noticed it in this timelapse I made https://www.youtube....h?v=9-mlPBtrPus
I then found a home test on Lonely Speck and performed it and it also pointed out that the 14-24mm showed aberration starting a short distance form the center.
I then went outside in my backyard which is located in a city and took photos of the stars so they are washed out by immense light pollution but they show what I am seeing.
