New to the Nikon D7500. I'm used to downloading images with Adobe Bridge from my D200 via its USB cable to an iMac computer, but the D7500 does not even mount on the desktop when connected, let alone show up in Bridge. There is also no instructions how to download images in its manual. Other than inserting the ScanDisk card into a card reader, is downloading possible via the USB cable?

I haven't tried it, but the D7500 should present itself as a camera but not as a disk drive to the computer. The card reader mode that the D200 had, died with the D90 as the D300 was he last Nikon with a Mass storage mode.

What happens if you install View NX-i, reboot the computer after the install and then connect the camera? You can use Transfer that is a part of View to just dump the files and then use Bridge to handle the rest. I don't know if the current version of Bridge has support for PTP cameras or not as I don't use the camera as a card reader, besides which, I use Photo Mechanic for both ingestion and DAM.

You should be able to ingest files using Apple's Image Capture, but I am not sure how well updated this needs to be to work with the D7500.

Launch Image Capture from Applications. Choose Nikon D7500 from the Device list. On the bottom of the window there will be drop down list where you can choose to import the images to. Choose Adobe Bridge from the list. Everytime you connect the camera to the iMac, Adobe Bridge will launch ready for the images to be imported.

If that doesn't work then you will need to upgrade your iMac to OS X High Sierra. Previous versions of OS X do not support the D7500 raw files.

Interesting. Like I responded to Merco_61, will eventually give this a try. Bear with me.

Don't most iMacs have a built-in SD cardreader? If that is the case, it might be better for your workflow to use that instead of the camera for ingestion.

That is what I'd do...pull the card from the camera, put it in a reader (part of the system or USB connected) and copy the images to the location I wanted them...

If I'm not mistaken, they do since the late 2009 models (A1311 and A1312).

Yes my iMac has a built-in SD card reader. Never knew it existed till now! Interesting you should point it out. Life's too complicated to notice the simple things.
