Hey everyone, I need some help...

I'm trying to set up off camera flash. I have a D750 with a pair of Cactus V5 radio transceivers and a Nikon SB-700 speedlight. I have one cactus trigger in the camera hotshoe set as the transmitter and the other has the SB-700 on it and is set as the receiver. They are all set to the same channel.

The issue is that the triggers seem to be communicating with each other (Green sync light goes off when I take a shot), but the flash isn't firing. I've tried simply turning the flash to the "on" position and firing and putting it in "remote" mode and firing, no luck.

The flash fires no problem when in the camera hotshoe and when triggered by the cameras built in flash.

Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks!

The flash should be in the On position, Remote is for AWL use.

Does the flash seat fully in the reciever's hotshoe? Are the contacts on the reciever clean? Does the Cactus support testing the flash Contact by pressing the test button on the reciever? Some radio triggers do, which simplifies finding where the fault is.

Do NOT put it in remote mode. That's for using Nikon's wireless flash system, which isn't what you're doing.

Additionally you may need to put the flash into TTL mode. I know a few transceivers work this way to adjust power on Nikon flashes. I am not sure on the V5's. I had V6's for Pentax many moons ago.

The Cactus V5 is trigger only.
