I decided to send up a test balloon using my SMC Pentax-M Macro 1:4 Lens with Pentax k-50.  Please feel free to offer up any helpful hints/suggestions.

I have a couple of questions:

Why the oblique angle? When you go to the trouble of setting the hands to 10:09, wouldn't it be nicer to show the full face of the watch.

Why did you crop so tight? It would be nice to see at least some part of the band as well as the dome on the crown.

Well I tried every angle I could think of and believed this to be more of a grander, elegant slope.  Sort of looking upwards.  As far as other items in the photograph, I wanted to see just how close I could get to the subject with this lens.  I have quite a watch collection, so I have a lot of work to do.  Thanks very much for your critique, it is very much appreciated.

Even if you felt this the best angle, you should at least try to capture the whole head centered...I actually like the view from the "base" of the watch, but you aren't centered or shooting it straight on...
