I like my street scenes to be busy, composition wise.  I like to be able to go back and look at the scene and see many different things happening, rather than just one focal point.  It can make the compositions busy from a technical standpoint, but I often break that rule in street photography.  I like to approach it from a "Where's Waldo" standpoint and see how many things you can see in one scene.

I especially like night photography and peering into shop windows to see the activity.

nice subject K-9, night street work can be so rewarding and can capture some fantastic colours and movement.. Gives such a feel of warmth, depth and life.. Just watch out for any drunks who take offence as i've found in the past..

Some quotes I have had are:

''ere are you a cop mate'' or ''Oi! pervo what you think your doin taking my picture, I'll knock you out''

Ah yes the joys of the nighttime street reveller versus the photographer.. lol

Yes, I have gotten a few odd remarks while snapping at night. I tend to go earlier in the evening, but I can imagine the comments the later I stay out!

I always try to shoot like a ninja and avoid comments :) .  Some photographers will shoot right up in peoples face which is daring to say the least.
