A few problems I've noticed with the classified section

It requires a price in US money. A bit of a problem if someone in the UK or elsewhere wants to sell something, although you can explain things in the text of the post.

It only lets you set one postal price - again, a bit of a problem if you're selling globally

And (the big one for me); mostly what I've posted there has been links to eBay UK auctions for the things I'm selling - I've just had to delete my last ad because all of the links had vanished.

If this is to be useful I think it needs a bit of a rethink.

I just checked and it looks like your links are showing up fine.  As for the currency problem, it seems that the system only allows a single local, which indeed doesn't make much sense.  I will look to migrate the classifieds to a simple forum section to give users more flexibility.  Thanks for the feedback!

Many thanks - maybe there was just a glitch that made the links vanish - those auctions are over now anyway. But I've just listed another lens on eBay so I'll try again.

Hello Mr. Rowland,

Many years ago I did a lot of trading on ebay, not only in this country, but many other countries.  I do recall when listing an item for sale in another country, there was a currency exchange rate feature built-in to the listing, sort of on the idea of "But it Now."  I didn't have any difficulties as I was able to retrieve the current rate immediately following the sale.  I have not conducted any business with ebay for a long time, so I am not familiar with the features now offered.

I hope in some small way, this helps.

Rgds,

Tony

Anyone who looks at the ebay listing will see the price in their own currency, and the postage to their country, so at least that isn't a problem - it's more that the classified format really doesn't take auctions or location into account, so it's only possible to give one price and one postal cost in the specifics for the listing, and (since I'm in the UK) they will be wrong for you and for a lot of others who see it. Yes, you can look at the actual ebay listing, I just feel that saying something is on sale at any given price is a bit misleading when it's an auction - for example, I've just listed a Nikon EM for £2.99 plus postage, but I'll be very surprised if it ends at that price, but if I want to tell people about the listing that's what I have to say, and it feels slightly dishonest. As for showing dollars rather than pounds - well, since the price will probably be wrong anyway it probably isn't that important.
