54MP?! Wow, Photographers have to have a lot of storage space when all of your pictures are using that much data. That's amazing.

The rumors I'm seeing keep the pixel count in the 45k +- range. Of course rumors, being what they are, mean nothing. We'll just have to wait and see. What I'm really concerned about is that Nikon may go the D3400/D7500 route and actually remove features that people have come to expect from Nikon's D800 series cameras. This would be tragic for both Nikon and it's user base.

I expect a D500 with 40ish mega pixel full frame sensor.

A nice improvement, but nothing ground breaking. It would be nice to be surprised with some new feature, but I can't see it happening.

Imagine if they surprised us and it was mirrorless in the same body?!?! Now that would be a pleasant surprise.
