Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 12 March 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. Come play with us in the editing exercises (and feel free to play around in the old exercises too).

P.P.S. Also check out the music inspiration challenges. Some very cool stuff going on in there!

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

Well, since no one else is posting, here's another one. Nikon D7100, 55-300mm lens.

I am currently experimenting with using PS for focus stacking, just so I know how to do it without expensive specialist tools like Zerene. This is a shallow stack of only 15 slices spaced 1 mm apart.

Here is a slice from the middle of the stack that shows the narrow DOF, even @f/11:

gallery_1251_655_289425.jpg

Model: NIKON D300
Lens (mm): 105
ISO: 1000
Aperture: 11

Shutter: 1/40

Here is the result:

The stack would process even better if I shot it with more steps as 1 mm between slices with 1.5 mm acceptably sharp is pushing it.

Believe it or don't but I actually have one this week. Taken the other day at Shark Valley, the Everglades.

These woodpeckers have been driving me crazy because they seem to always roost on the 'opposite' side of the suet cage, then quickly peek around it like they're teasing me.  Anyway, I used a Nikon D750 with Nikkor 28-300 lens attached.  The closest I could setup my gear was about 25-30' away, so I had to really crop in on the photo to get this close-up.
