Just got our d5, disappointed to see the same USB3 tether port being used as on the D810..

7000$ cameras and we have to tape the chord to keep it secured to the camera.  We use tether pro secure gadgets, anyone else have a better idea of how to accomplish a constant connection?  I'm sure I'm not the only one shooting tethered every day... #disappointeddancephotographer

I believe there are products that would allow you to tether wirelessly...I would think that would be your best options...I remember tethering one of my older bodies once just to play with it but I have never had any need to tether a camera.  I have considered and tried some wireless options for transferring selected images during an event to post online but haven't felt the cost would justify the benefits to me.

As you dislike the normal practice on both Canon and Nikon pro bodies of using an angled USB3 connector and some gaffer's tape, perhaps the WT-6 is worth a look?

On the D700, I use a RRS L-plate with the spacer block to mount the much flimsier USB2 contact securely. The spacer works with Kirk plates as well and is a better solution than the Kirk spacer as there is a sturdy strain relief built-in.

Gosh, and it's the same price as the Kirk block. I need to look into this!
