As a complete novice i chose to purchase the D3100 in part because of the in built guide program, although quite useful i soon ignored this and started to teach myself. have to say for an entry level camera i am really impressed with the results I am achieving even with the supplied kit lens, I have progressed to looking for better glass and am considering a 35mm prime. I have learnt so much already with this delightful camera and apart from the lack of bracketing function it pretty much does everything i need. Good buy for the money.
