Nikon Film Cameras... I am a long-time user and collector.

These span 4 decades.

These Nikkor lenses are made for the Leica mount, in 1949. The 5cm F1.5 came with a Canon III, ~1950.

Nikon S3 with Russian Jupiter-3, "shimmed" (calibrated) for the Nikon S-Mount.

Nikon and Leica, made 50+ years apart, both able to use the same lenses.

I modified the Nikon S2 to use Zeiss Contax lenses, moved the Focus mount out by 0.5mm and calibrated the Rangefinder for Zeiss lenses. I have another S2 for Nikon lenses. The Leica has a Contax to Leica M-Mount adapter on it.

This is my Nikon MF outfit, just before I sold, it about six years ago. Nikon FM2n, FE2, etc.

I'd like to have kept it all but I'm on a budget. I'd got my first decent digital camera - an Olympus E-P1 and a couple of lenses - that's gone now too!

I started, many years back with Nikon but quickly moved to Olympus (OM1n, OM4Ti) which I loved but Olympus seemed to lose interest in the system, so there was no point keeping buying into it. I had a brief flirtation with a Leica M3 but as an only camera it was frustratingly limited - my photographic interests are too broad. I stayed with Leica and got an R-E, a very much under-rated camera but, if I'm honest, the lenses were disappointing. That's when I went for the outfit above.

Off topic, I know (sorry!) but I love the rangefinder format. In fact, there are days when I would buy a Leica M and two lenses and just narrow down my interests to suit. Fortunately I can't afford one!

I have a Nikon D610 because it just does everything. I don't think I'll ever love it but I love what it does and how it does it. It's not too big, it starts up faster than I can get it to my eye, it will shoot 1000 pics to a battery charge and it'll work with any lens I want to put on it. I don't care what reviewers say, or how things might have moved on in the last two years(!) its IQ and overall performance are remarkable.

Those film Nikons, both MF and AF, were lovely - but I don't miss them one bit!

They're way beyond my means but I'm really curious about those 58/1.4 lenses. How do you get on with it?

I mostly shoot the D810 and D750 for professional work. I also use a Phase One DF+ with P40+ back and a modified Zeiss 80/2 lens. I integrate the film into my shooting when time allows as well as for personal fun.
The 58mm is an amazing lens. It just has a "Look". It's not super sharp but sharp enough. The fall off is amazing.6cd4bd09a15397d94940a8aa60f26758.jpg4fa8518acbc2d985f9a2880aa9ab8312.jpg

Here is my only Nikon body. I have both the DE-3 and DE-2 finders. I sold the lens pictured, and will be looking for a replacement. I also sold the MD-4 drive that came with it, but I might try and get it back....:)

Hi, everyone. I'm new here but certainly not new to photography or Nikon. Here are all my old 35mm Nikons I've accumulated over the the years. I've sorted them by date of introduction from left to right/top to bottom:

  • Nikkormat FTn (1967)
  • Nikkormat FT2 (1975)
  • Nikon FM (1977)
  • Nikon FE (1978)
  • Nikon F3 (1980)
  • Nikon FG (1982)
  • Nikon FA (1983)
  • Nikon N2020/F-501 (1986)
  • Nikon F4 (1988)

XJL_6160.JPG

I also plan on obtaining an F, an F2, and and FM2. If I'm missing any classic manual focus Nikon SLRs that that should be apart of my collection let me know. As far as manual lenses go, I currently only have a 50mm f/1.4 Non-AI, a 50mm f/1.4 AI-S, a 24mm f/2.8 AI-S, and a 55mm f/2.8 Micro AI-S but definitely plan on adding more in the near future. The film I'm currently using is Tri-X 400 in my Nikkormat FTn, Rollei Ortho 25 in my FA, Velvia 50 in my F3, and Porta 800 in my F4
