I have a D90 and a Sigma EF-610 DG Super flash. They work well together. Does this flash work with a D780?

I think this flash will work on your camera without damaging it... but since I do not own either of these devices, I can't guarantee that.

Assuming it will work, you will likely be limited to using it in manual mode. That means no iTTL although you may be able to use it in auto flash mode. You'll need to experiment with that.

You also will not be able to use it with Nikon's creative lighting system for off camera flash. This isn't that big of a deal though because radio triggers work much better.

It should work, and maybe even have iTTL capabilities.

I really can't see a reason for it not to work with the D780

Yes and No... The D780, as you're aware, doesn't have a built-in flash, nor does it have the Nikon CLS Commander mode features... Yes, it'll work with your EF-610 DG ST, to the extent that any flash will work, but it won't fire that flash OFF-camera using Nikon's CLS features...unless you use a separate radio trigger/receiver combo.
