I had the opportunity this week to visit a place in Wylie, TX that is a home for some beautiful big cats...lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, etc. InSync Exotics (https://www.insyncexotics.org/) is a 501(3)c) non-profit organization that provides a permanent, safe residence for exotic cats that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. The folks who work there are mostly volunteers. While it was thrilling to see these beautiful creatures it was also saddening to consider the reasons that such a facility is needed.
Because these are wild, dangerous animals, they are kept in highly secure (although spacious) enclosures that are surrounded by double chain link fences. The area between the fences also provides a walkway for the folks who feed and care for the cats.
From a photography standpoint, getting images of decent quality is tough since you're trying to shoot through clear areas in two layers of chainlinks. To get anything resembling a "keeper", I set my FZ1000 II up for what Panasonic calls pinpoint autofocusing and used aperture priority. Here are some of the results.
