Hello guys. I need some advice on cameras choice. Yeah i know, i know it all depends on my budget and stuff but hear me out. I've been shooting with Nikon d5200 and I've been shooting with it for like 5 or 6 years of my life so i would say that I'm a DSLR person. So, i sold my camera and want to go to full frame. Saw that d780 came out last year and i cheked the stats and i liked it but i know that its very simillar to z6. So i really cant decide should i go for DSLR or mirrorless. I mostly shoot portraits. Boudoir and street photography. Rarely i take videos but eh, i don't know. I mean yeah, EVF and OVF is the biggest difference. Also the price. If i decide to go to mirrorless then maybe i could go with z6 ii but i dont know if i should do it because i just shoot what i shoot and yeah. I know that it's all about pref and stuff but what about from that kind of perspective where someone would recommend me a camera only from what i shoot. I don't do weddings nor am i a prof. I just like taking pictures. So, what would you say to this?

P.S. Why did i choose d780? Cause i like the fact that it has awesome live view mode so its basically 2 in 1. DSLR and a mirroless like a z6.

For me, the D750 or D780 would be the first choice as a single body. I wouldn't want to be without my small and unobtrusive manual focus or screw-drive wide to normal primes for street or the older 105-s  for portraiture. Screw-drive lenses won't AF and Ai lenses aren't easy to use on the FTZ.

That said, A Z6II would be a nice addition to what I have, but not as my only camera.

I know that lots of people aren't as addicted to the old Nikons as I am...

I discovered that I am addicted to DSLRs when mirrorless came on the
scene. I am very resistant to that "Z" stuff… just can't justify it.

A used Z6 mark 1 would be the perfect choice for me!

Excellent image quality

Smooth and not jerky in body vr

The EVF will save you hundreds clicks

Great ISO performance

Silent photography

This is not an Action camera

So many z6i for 800-1200$ right now with less than 25000 shutter actuations

Certainly a good reason to stay on DSLR.

The D780 or a D750.  Like Peter, I have a lot of the older screw-drive AF lenses, some of the best Nikon has ever produced.  At best they're manual focus on a Z body, where as they work as intended on a D750/D780.  I look at it as camera bodies come and go, but truly good lenses stay around a long time.

For the type of photography you say you currently do, I'd say go with a D750 or D780. If, at a later time, you decide to try your hand and action shots, either would serve you well.

oaky with nikon going full mirrorless after 780 coming out better off going mirrorless right now. and learn now instead later. also i went from D7200 to Z6 and will not go back to DSLR anytime soon way better camera and its does more faster and better low light sensor. better of get Z6 or if have cash Z6 II but keep in mind 120gb XQD is $190 and if get so can use CFexpress going to be same price or more. and if get Z6 II sd card are about same price for XQD and CFexpress since uhs-II type two cards. and faster then SD. always want to use fast card camera can use. also if not sure rent or test out camera body's or lenses to see which one fits your needs. we can give all info you want to read and see. but in till you get hands on with you ever know if fits your needs or not.
