You have to use ViewNX-MovieEditor to do it.

I've tried long and hard to make a movie out of time lapse frames, but have utterly failed .

the original frames were shot at 5 second intervals. when stitched together as a movie it plays at 1 frame every 5 seconds .   ok i can understand that .

so i compiled the movie again at 24 fps , and it plays at 1 frame every 5 seconds-------------am i missing something here??
