Now that really is an interesting capture.  I have never witnessed deer by the coastline.  How were receptive were they with your presence?

When I first saw them, it was through a closed sliding glass door that provides access to an outdoor deck on a vacation house I rented on the Willapa River in Washington State. The front edge of the deck is no more than 25 feet from the river's high tide line. As one can see from the image, however, the tide was out.

 

I put down my cup of coffee, got my camera and slid the door open as quietly as I could manage. When I walked out on the deck I purposely didn't look directly at the deer or point the camera in their direction. They were perhaps 30-40 feet away and slowly walking toward my location. They passed in front of me from left to right and seemed undisturbed by my presence or the sounds from the camera.
