Hi, I have just upgraded from a D3100 to a D3400 both cameras have 18-55mm kit lenses, so why won’t the 55mm UV FILTER from the D3100 fit the D3400? Do I need to purchase a different size. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

They each may have an 18-55 mm lens, but that does not mean they are the same version of that lens.  I believe Nikon has made several different 18-55 and it would not surprise me if some had different filter sizes.

Earlier 18-55 lenses all use a 52 mm filter thread, the AF-P versions are 55 mm.

Many thanks, and correct, I purchased a new UV filter today from a camera shop and that is exactly what the salesman told me. We live and learn
