Hello there

I've tried so hard to learn about this lens through internet but couldn't find something useful!

I can not even rent it

The reason is that I'm planning to pull the trigger on this but I have no idea what's going on!!

Just wanna know about this lens

Does anybody here has personal experience with this lens and share his knowledge with me..

 Thank you in advance

Wish I could help you!  I've shot the 400 2.8 and the 300 2.8 but never did get around to trying out the 500...

Here's a 500mm f/4 for rent.

Lensrentals.com - Rent a Nikon 500mm f/4E FL ED AF-S VR

Sorry - that's the VR version.

Here's some discussion on the Fred Miranda forum.

That lens is on my wish list, too, but way out of my budget right now.

Both the 300 f2.8 and 400 f2.8 lenses were very nice as was the 200-400 f4.  I rented each of them a few times and eventually decided on the 200-400 as I felt the flexibility was a big benefit with the majority of the shooting I was doing at the time.  At some point I'd like to at least try out a 600 but no real need right now.  I would certainly jump on a good deal for any of those I've tested...
