Even the 100% crop looks good.

Amazing sharpness and clarity.

If someone were to ever give me a  Nikon D700 or D610, I would send them photographs every week of my best work I took that week to say thank you. One day :)

If it is truly an upgrade to the D600, I will be more than happy.  I love my D600 and although haven't used it as often as I would like, have not had any issues with it.

Would love to own one of these. Even though the trusty D70 is still capable, the handling og the newer "more pro" bodies is just excellent.

Great news! My D610 died  It is impossible to turn on live view and use movie function - it says: Unable to start live view, Please wait. And just before you say anything - it's not related to sensor temperature or other settings. Tomorrow I'm taking it to the retailer to get a new one. I hope that this one will work for more than 10 days

Oh no!

No worries - just got new one today. Fingers crossed, touch wood and other black-magic rituals included, so hopefully my new one will last forever :D

My D7100 dies in Live View Video mode too, unless I switch the exposure dial to Auto.

I have honestly never used Live View on any of my Nikon bodies...nothing against it, just never had occasion to use it...

I just wanted to check movie quality - you can't record movie clips without LV - that's how I've found that something is wrong :) I don't use LV at all while taking photographs - I have pentaprism for a reason :D

I have used it for still photography on occasion.

If, for example, you want to be able to hold the camera high over the heads of a crowd of people, you can get a glimpse of what the lens is pointing at before you hit the shutter release. Any time you might have to hold it out in front or to the side and not up to your eye, LV is very handy.

Maybe I'll give it a shot...I do shoot from above occasionally - team gathering around the coach, etc. and I frequently "shoot from the hip" or from a "rest" position when shooting candids.  I just let the camera hang around my neck or hold it casually in my hand and I shoot if I catch what looks to be a good opportunity.  I've gotten pretty good at framing both these types of shots over the years...doesn't hurt that I normally do it with a fairly wide angle so I can crop to the framing I want...
