This lens has been in my gear bag for several years and I love it's sharpness and light weight and reasonable filter size. For landscapes, stopped down to f/8 or more, the sharpness compares well with my 70-200 f/2.8G. This is a great general-purpose wide zoom for DX format cameras, covering from 28mm (equivalent to FX) up to standard lens equivalent. As for glare, the lens hood helps, but you do still get a lot of stray light that often require a little extra shading with the hand.
