#83548 Nikon Blocks Third-party batteries from Working with the Z8

Posted by Tony on 25 June 2023 - 08:03 PM in Nikon News and Rumors

Company tricks are so old, the PlayStation and Xbox users know about, sometimes actualize the firmware take consequences of third party joysticks and accessories that not pay further the licenses and stop working.

Here I think is the same, but we have an advantage camera works fine usually without the last actualization consoles sometimes need it for online playing, and you must do it.

Always before actualize firmware, read about what consist the actualization if you don't need better not touch the camera. Not only Nikon, all trademarks do the same.

And one free tip, collect all the firmware versions of your camera before still not for download in Internet, sometimes companies delete it deliberates. And you need the old firmware factory versions like 1.00 or 1.01, and it's almost impossible to find.

.... Remember if something is working better not touch it, Microsoft Windows users believe this credo.

You are correct, Lupe.  It comes down to the old saying;  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  True story.  :)

#82707 Vibration Reduction problems with Z 9 and FX lenses.

Posted by Tony on 01 April 2023 - 02:59 PM in Nikon Z Mirrorless Cameras

As it turned out, the jumping focus point didn't actually affect the focus of the image. I had another issue that caused the focus to be soft. Actually the image is taken before the jumping occurs. I was told that the jumping is the focus point re-centering itself.

Very interesting.  That is one perspective I had not heard of or experienced.  It is possible for any gear to become damaged or knocked off kilter, given the

endless possibilities with shipping, handling and even putting up with abuse to some degree.  The lens that I referenced earlier possessed an Auto-Focus System that was very accurate and very reliable, meaning consistent in its performance.  Not atypical of Nikon gear.

One of those things that make you go:  "Hhmmmm."  :)

#84816 Zoom Creep with my AFNikkor 18-105mm Lens

Posted by Tony on 03 September 2023 - 05:59 PM in Technical Troubleshooting

Have had this lens for about a month now and just noticed last night a problem with zoom creep.  Should I send it back to

the seller or learn to deal with it?  Is there a home remedy for this issue?

Muchas Gracias,

Tony :)

#84866 Zoom Creep with my AFNikkor 18-105mm Lens

Posted by Tony on 06 September 2023 - 04:45 PM in Technical Troubleshooting

Thanks very much, Peter.  A little more info.  When the lens is pointed upwards (totally vertical with the front element) that is the only time creep happens.

Turn the lens inverted and there is no creeping.  Not at all.  Since it is still under warranty, the best thing to do is to return it.

Again, many thanks.

Tony. :)

#83593 Would anyone…

Posted by Tony on 28 June 2023 - 01:58 PM in Coffee Chat

I like the idea a great deal.  However, currently I do not possess any Nikon gear. :(  I have been in the market lately and am seriously considering a

Nikon D90 or another D200.  If it is required to use Nikon gear exclusively, then for the time being I will have to bow out.  Again, Peter an excellent idea.

Cheers,

Tony  :)
