#82000 Nikon D850 Cable Release R20 Message

Posted by mexitographer on 24 January 2023 - 01:47 PM in Technical Troubleshooting

Has anyone had this issue before and if so how was it resolved. I have a Nikon D850 that was working fine for two years using a cable release. Then all of sudden I started getting an r20 "error" ONLY when using the cable release. Using the shutter button works fine. I tried 4 different memory cards..all were reformatted. I bought a new cable release and that didnt help either. The cable release works fine with my D780 so I know the cable release is not the issue. Ive done a factory settings reset on the camera and that didnt work. And I just recently update the D850 firmware and I am still having this issue. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be very much appreciated.

#79953 Nikon D85 Cable Release R20 error

Posted by mexitographer on 07 August 2022 - 12:15 PM in Technical Troubleshooting

Hello. The cable release function on my Nikon D850 was working fine and then one day it started displaying an r20 message and the shutter would not release when I used the cable release only. Im aware that this is usually a buffer issue however the the shutter releases perfectly when using the shutter button, just not when using the cable release. Ive tried everything I can think of including a Settings Reset...All Focus Modes set to Release...Made sure all timers were off...Used Compressed air to clean the cable release contacts...and then eventually bought a brand new cable release. The problem persists even with the new cable release. Im hoping someone has had this issue before and possibly knows the fix for it. If not the next step would be take in for repair. Thank you for any any ideas anyone may have.
