#8819 Where the Princess sleeps

Posted by jrzayas on 13 November 2013 - 08:17 PM in Night and Stars

That's a good shot of the most photographed building in the Western Hemisphere.

I used to work at Magic Kingdom. I still live a half hour away from it.

So jealous...I can't wait to go back!!!!

#8818 Sunset at Guantanamo Bay

Posted by jrzayas on 13 November 2013 - 08:12 PM in Seascapes

How long was the exposure?

Jose, do you shoot a lot in HDR mode, or do you post process that way?

I looked at your Flickr album, and it looks beautiful. Sort of a Thomas Kincade look to your work.

Is that what you are going for, or am I way off base?

Yes! I love to experiment a lot and that includes HDR. I personally don't like the over the top HDR-ish look some people go for. I truly believe that less is more when doing HDR. Most of my pictures are only from one file and I develop them for extended dynamic range although I have some true HDR ones.

Thank you for asking and stopping by!

#8810 Liquid Crystal

Posted by jrzayas on 13 November 2013 - 05:59 PM in Macro

Wow, amazing.  I never thought that this quality of photo could be done at the kitchen sink!

I was bored so I decided to give this a try! And yes, you can do this even at the kitchen sink, lol!

I like it. Interesting background on this photo.

Thanks! I didn't want the backsplash to show in the picture so I looked for something colorful and bammm, a beach towel!

#7207 Fireworks at Disney

Posted by jrzayas on 05 November 2013 - 04:30 AM in Night and Stars

I note that you used a 24mm lens. Can you provide more details on the lens and it was my understanding that the D7000 was not a full frame camera.

Hi, I used the 14-24 f/2.8 lens @ 24mm for the photo. And yes, the D7000 is a DX format sensor camera. I used the D700 and that one has a full frame body. Hope this helps!

#7178 Tori Gate at Epcot

Posted by jrzayas on 04 November 2013 - 05:46 PM in Night and Stars

For this one, I was ready about one hour before the start of the fireworks show. I wanted  to include the main element (Tori Gate), the lasers, the fireworks and a nice reflection. In order to end up with the shot I was after, I used a cable release.

Notice also that the original photo is fantastic "as is"!

Thank you Alden!

Having been to a few Disney firework displays, I have been spoiled for life, when watching any other displays. I really like Disney and your photo is great and agree with Alden, the original was a great shot. Did you use a tripod?

Thanks! The camera was setup before the show on a tripod, also used a cable release and manual focus.

Your photo is amazing. Is it really a result of post processing of one raw photo?

Thank you and yes. Only one raw file!

Here's a screenshot LR5 when the file was processed.

Very nice! HDR, right?

Thanks Alden...  Nice images, I can't wait to go back!!!

All PP was done entirely in LR5. I guess it's called a pseudo hdr image. I think it looks cool and different!
