Got this lens with my D3100. It's not perfect but to be honest I've managed to take some great pictures with it.

I'm using this lens with my D5100. AF is quite fast and really quiet. Sharpness is very good. But sometimes 55mm is not enough and aperture is really dark.

I'm more of a beginner but I love this lens. I love taking macro photos and I could never afford a macro lens anytime soon. But I was quite shocked by how close you could get with this lens. I agree the 55mm sometimes isn't far enough but it still works great for landscapes.

Got this lens whit my first nikon d3100, I  think for that price you wont get a better 18-55, and i managed to make some splendid photos visit my album the picture taken whit this lens is "baby on wedding".

Cons:

after 3 monts of use the autofocus servo died, neded service but since then it works very nice.
