This shows the tail section and port side engine for the SR-71. I was informed by one of the service people that an Air Force General had insisted that the SR-71 had: U.S. Air Force painted on her. They tried to explain that the cost would be horrendous and the general insisted anyway at a cost of one million dollars to formulate paint that could withstand the air friction at such high speeds and altitudes. Go figure. Of course in the 1970s, a million clams was nothing to sneeze at. Thanks for looking, Tonytee.
