Well, two weeks in and, thanks to spending some time with the D850 and a lot of very helpful suggestions on technique and settings from Merco_61 and Bobby18120, it just keeps getting better. The hit rate, in terms of shots in focus, is ridiculously high and I’m particularly impressed by the camera’s ability to obtain focus in less than ideal lighting.
I also received an AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G today. First time I’ve owned that particular lens (I’ve had the 1.8D and the 1.4G previously) first impressions are positive but I’ll give it a bit more of a workout on tomorrow morning’s dog walk and then, in the afternoon when we’re going on a Gin Safari! I’ll be relying on its ability to focus because I, sure as hell, won’t be able too!
I’m preparing my eBay listing for the AF-P 70-300 (which I’ll be sad to lose) but I’ll be ordering a 70-200/2.8 next week too.
