This park is underneath the start of the Coronado Bay Bridge and I5 in barrio Logan. It has ton of history both good and bad as it is in one of the most crime ridden neighborhoods in San Diego. The park was built in the early 70's after the Coronado Bay bridge was built over part of the neighborhood displacing many families. The state was going to make the land into a parking lot for a new highway patrol station. the community was having none of it and protested, eventually winning and turning it into a park. the murals change once in a while, usually when the paint fades and chips away.
On a side note, this same day my friend and I performed CPR of a homeless and obvious drug addict right across the street.
