I am getting frustrated with taking pictures.  When i use manual setting the pictures very seldom are in focus.  But when I take the same picture in auto the picture is in sharper focus.  What is happening here?

I assume you mean manual exposure mode, vs manual focus?

In Manual Exposure Mode: list the shutter speed and F-Stop that you are using. Chances are you are selecting a large aperture with little depth of field, while auto-exposure is stopping the lens down- giving greater depth-of-field.

Post some examples, and the settings used.

Also, as suggested by Peter in another thread, check for the diopter setting (the small wheel next to the viewfinder)

I am referring to the auto focus in manual exposure mode vs auto focus in auto exposure .  I didn't explain myself well enough. Usually most pictures I use in M or S mode (which I usually use) are not in focus as well as they are in the auto mode.  I hope this clarifies things better.  Thank you

Post a couple photos here with the exif intact. One in Auto mode and the other in Manual mode. My guess is that you are pressing the shutter button before the auto focus has locked on.

I suspect you are choosing a wider aperture for your manual exposure shots. The auto-exposure mode is "most likely" stopping down the lens for the exposure, meaning more will be in focus.
