Nikon Coolpix P600: Can someone tell me how to setup/start continuous shoots? I am under the impression that the camera can shoot individual photos in a continous mode. In case I am not clear or using wrong terminology...what I mean is this. I want to hold the shutter button down and the camera would take multiple photos until I release the shutter button or the number of photos in continuous mode is reached. It seems to me that I managed to do this once before but now I can not remember how I did it. The online manual I have gives instructions but they are not working for me.

Nothing? No one knows how to accomplish this?

There are very few of us who use the Coolpix range or have a manual for a specific model downloaded. Rather than guessing, we don't say anything so we at least don't give bad advice.

The manual can be found HERE.  It looks like it is a setting on the Shooting Menu from a quick search of the manual...

Thank you for your reply. As I stated the online manual has been no help and the manual that came with the camera is much the same. They give the options for continuous shooting but pressing the shutter gives only a single shutter click/photo.

Is there perhaps a lower cost/price forum for us Coolpix users that you might know of?

Having checked the user manual as provided in the link of TBonz here above, my reading is that:
1/ the continuous mode can ONLY be set in the P, M, S, A and U mode (i.e. Not when you have set to the automatic mode (camera icon))
2/ the continuous mode is set in the MENU (Continuous shall be set to something different then S, which stands for Single)
3/ the continuous mode only activates if you press the shutter release button for a bit longer than normal.

(Start by looking at page 72 of the manual)

Also the conituous mode is available for certain scene modes (f.i. Sports)

Some cameras store a series of continous shots as a stack; i.e. all captures are on the memory card, but when scrolling through your captures on the camera it shows one capture and then by doing a second operation the complete stack is shown. This is certainly also explained in the manual.

Jerry is correct.  If you are not using one of those modes, then it isn't going to work which is why I suggested the manual that I looked at.  If you are in one of those modes where continuous is allowed and you hold your finger on the shutter release for 10 seconds (as an example), you should get continuous shots up to the buffer limit of the camera / card combination with a reduced continuous speed once that buffer is full.  At that time, it will only fire as quickly as there is space in the buffer to capture another image.  If that doesn't work, then it is possible that there is something wrong with the camera.
