Having a few lenses that don't have VR I've noticed the IQ does tend to be better on those. I haven't tried turning off the VR on those that do,but I always shoot at minimum 1/ FL for ss. So that should not be an issue.

So far, I only have a 35mm 1:8 lens and I can't wait for my 55-200mm. I have shakey hands and sometimes I feel I am moving forward and backward a little which bothers me more.

When I had lenses that had VR I used to turn it off, besides for my Tamron 70-300 DI VC, that VR on that thing is amazing the viewfinder just freezes! I find VR doesnt really help me on shorter focal lenghts less than 150mm.
I have a tremor and I recently bought the Tamron 70-300 DI VC. I love the way that lens just grabs the picture, keeping it steady for me.
